Replacing upper and lower switches - 60 XL and 20 Deluxe
Tools Required: Phillips Screwdriver, Standard Screwdriver, Pliers
Lower Switch
- Unplug the electricity.
- Disconnect the vent pipe and lift slightly on the front of the unit and pull the toilet forward.
- Unscrew the retaining nut from the switch behind the seat and push the switch inside the unit.

- Remove the thermostat knob by gently prying upward with a Standard screwdriver.
- Unscrew the compost cover retaining nut by using a standard screwdriver and turning the nut counter-clockwise. Remove the top by lifting on the front of the top while pushing in on the switch. Once the switch has cleared the hole in the top, lift on the rear of the top. The top may stick slightly due to silicon sealant used in production.

- Unplug the 2 wires connected to the terminals on the right side of the lower switch.
Note: Needle nose pliers and a slight side-to-side wiggle of the wire may be required as the connectors may fit tightly. DO NOT USE A FORWARD AND BACK WIGGLE. THIS MAY BREAK THE TERMINAL.
- Unplug the wire on the front of the lower switch.
- Remove the 2 screws and washers on the top of the switch.
- Install the new switch so that the two terminals are pointing to the right and the single terminal points forward when facing the toilet.
- Reinstall the 2 screws and washers that were removed in step 9.
- Reconnect the wire that was removed in step 8.
- Reconnect the wires removed in step 6.
Upper Switch
- Unplug the 4 wires from the terminals on either side of the upper switch noting the position of each wire.
Note: Needle nose pliers and a slight side-to-side wiggle may be required as the connectors mat fit tightly. DO NOT USE A FORWARD AND BACK WIGGLE. THIS MAY BREAK THE TERMINAL.

- Remove the 2 screws holding the switch to the mounting plate.
- Pull the old switch out.
- Insert the new upper switch so the white button is protruding through the hole in the mounting plate and the screw heads on the switch are facing upward.
- Reinstall the two screws on the mounting plate removed in step 2.
- Reconnect the 4 wires that were removed in step 1.
- Plug the unit into a 120 V AC outlet and test the operation of the unit by pushing in on the white micro switch. If the unit operates, unplug it so the top can be replaced.
- Put the top back on, screw the compost cover retaining nut into place and connect the nut holding the switch behind the seat.
- Put the toilet in place and reconnect the vent pipe.
- Plug the unit in to a 120V AC outlet.
